Project Description
Project Description by JR Architects - The school is in the countryside of Southern Taiwan, adjacent to the Taiwan Strait. The unevened and faceted landscape is a dialogue with the ridge of the Central Mountain Range at East. The angled hardscape encourages children to interact with it, as a hill, a staircase, and as a playground, which extends into a courtyard layout that serves as a windbreak for the northeast downhill wind. It also frames the view towards the ocean for the classrooms and the public plaza, which metaphorically turns into a “Whale” imagery.
