With detached dwelling approvals hitting a 12-year low in January, growth in national construction costs continued to stabilise in the first quarter of 2024 research shows. The steadiness in the quarterly pattern resulted in the annual shift in the CCCI settling at 2.8 per cent, marking the most modest yearly increase since the period ending in March 2007, which was 2.7 per cent. This figure notably falls well below the pre-COVID decade average of four per cent.
