Project Description

Proejct description provided by KOMINORU Design - Postpartum care center is a facility where mothers and newborn babies can rest and receive necessary support for childcare.
Postpartum care centers are starting to attract attention in Japan as it becomes more important to create an environment in which children are born.
The business owner, Okayama Sun Clinic, has long been aware of the importance of postpartum care centers, and has embarked on this project.

To the large glass window openings of the original hospital building, we added repeating colonnades reminiscent of medieval Romanesque architecture.
A kind of discipline was born in the existing ward, and it was reborn as a profound and quiet space.
The frosted glass diffuses the light coming in through the arch-shaped pots, and the vault-shaped canopy diffuses the light, softly enveloping the space.
Like a soft canopy of light, it envelops the mother and child, and the time of love flows.

There are two types of guest rooms: Western-style and Japanese-style.
The lodging room also has a canopy. A piece of fabric that extends from the bed board niche to the ceiling.
It is an attempt to bring the feeling of floating to the room by expressing the light floating fabric.
