Project Description
K2LD were engaged by the VSBA to be Principal Consultant for the design and delivery of the new $70M East Campus for McKinnon Secondary College.
Our engagement started when the site was still under the acquisition stage. The project was successfully tendered on budget in 2019 and opened at the beginning of the 2022 school year. As this school is the first major public infrastructure piece in this new residential precinct, we were actively involved with assisting the VSBA to negotiate infrastructure provisions with the developer and shared use agreements of the adjacent parklands and facilities with the Local Council.
Our design expertise from our previous delivery of other vertical schools informed the strategic and educational philosophy around the creation of a multi-storey vertical school and the importance of generating the sense of the school being a 'campus within a building' for this new community facility in a new residential area.
