Project Description
Project description provided by Cheshire Architects - Located in the heart of Auckland's downtown heritage precinct, The Hotel Britomart is a masterclass in fusion of craftmanship, sustainability, and cultural sensitivity. This 10-storey, 5 Green-Star certified hotel boasts a unique blend of rustic charm and modern sophistication, its hand-made clay brick façade punctuated by sleek glazed windows that appear to hover effortlessly above the vibrant urban landscape. With a deep sense of connection to Aotearoa and its people, the hotel's design embodies a seamless integration of architecture, interiors, and heritage buildings, creating a unique and immersive experience for its guests.
Within its 99 rooms, guests can unwind in softly lit timber cabins, each tailored to its orientation to sun and light. The pièce de résistance is the five expansive penthouse suites, complete with private rooftop terraces offering breathtaking cityscape views. Each room features custom-designed elements and photography commissioned from Russ Flatt and Kieran Scott, celebrating the land, sea, and sky through different cultural lenses.
This exceptional hotel is the result of a collaborative effort between Cheshire Architects, Bracewell Construction, and a team of esteemed consultants, showcasing the best of New Zealand's design, construction, and cultural expertise. Completed in 2021, The Hotel Britomart is a beacon of sustainable luxury in the heart of Auckland, offering a truly unforgettable experience for discerning travelers.
