Project Description
Project Description provided by Spant Studio Architects - The summer house is located on one of the few previously unbuilt
plots in the summer house area of Klegod, at the Danish west coast.
The plot is dominated by a large dune, which is why the house is care-
fully nestled into the southern part of the plot.
The house is conceptualised as a longhouse, where the middle sec-
tion is offset. This makes the house follow the shape of the dune and
thus fit more naturally into the landscape without extensive landscap-
ing.
In the offset middle section, there is a kitchen and living room as
one large, high-ceilinged room. At each end of the house, there is a
bedroom, a loft and a bathroom. The southwestern wing also houses
a covered outdoor area that can be screened off depending on the
weather and wind.
On the other side of the dune is an annex with a sleeping area and a
shed. The house is designed as a modern holiday home that does not
flaunt its luxury; it does not try to dazzle with unnecessary luxury but
focuses on the beautiful character of the place in a pure and simple
material palette. The house is built for a couple in their 60s who have
both children and grandchildren. It has been important to to create a
versatile and flexible house that can both practically and atmospher-
ically provide a cozy, intimate setting for two people as well as ten
people.
